For juniors who are committed to taking it to the next level in the world of competition, this is the place to be. The close ties between Personal Coach and Player and the support services from Player Development, Physical Trainers, etc. all combine to foster improvement and success at an amazing rate.
The Academy
We believe that there are no short cuts - but that a clear vision, a strong focus and a lot of hard work ALWAYS pays off.
Colleges with RMTAgraduates on their tennis team include: Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, Clemson, Brown Univ., Cornell, Univ. of Michigan, Tulane, Williams College, Dartmouth, Washington Univ., Trinity College and Boston Univ., to name a few.
Player Development Services:
Apart from the standard instruction in proper form, footwork and tactics, etc., using our proven methods, the ITF Training Program will also teach the player to:
UNDERSTAND his or her own playing style, strengths and weaknesses.
RECOGNIZE all of the above in opponents, and how to use this knowledge.
REFINE stroke mechanics and techniques within one’s playing style.
LEARN advanced / specialty shots.
DISCUSS strategy and individualized game plan options with coaches.
REVIEW videotapes and match-charting with coaches for post game analysis.
FOCUS on weapon development and shot selection.
PRACTICE for optimum results with strong hitting partners.
The Team
Spearheaded by Randy Mani (a former world-ranked professional), the highly qualified, knowledgeable and motivated Pro Staff members (all former ranked or tou players themselves) have the necessary experience to groom upcoming juniors for the next level. Each junior player is teamed with his or her own Coach, who works closely with the player in matters of technique and tactics as well as in establishing a “road-map” for the player to follow in order to reach his or her goals. The team understands that becoming a better player is an evolutionary process and will guide the player all the way. Certified Trainers with backgrounds that include sport specific training, flexibility and mobility, sports psychology, injury prevention and nutrition, to name but a few specialty areas, are also on hand.
Training
Hardscrabble Club is a brand new, state-of-the-art club, offering tennis, fitness and squash to the residents of up-scale Westchester, N.Y. and Connecticut communities. The club is pleased to be the year round home of the Randy Mani Tennis Academy's ITF Training Programs. In addition to the tennis (3 indoor hard, 4 indoor clay & 2 outdoor clay courts) and fitness (full complement of cardio and strengh training equipment and aerobic studio), the club also offers modern lockers with showers and steam rooms, massage therapy, a cafe that serves nutritionally balanced, healthy food, a pro shop and a really great lounge. Recently the squash courts, an aerobics studio and a multi-purpose basketball/gym floor were also completed.
Schooling
No preparation for life is complete without effective schooling. For players wishing to enroll full-time in RMTA's ITF Training Program at Hardscrabble Club, there are a few options:
Local Public Schools - there are several pre-eminent ones close by.
Local Private Schools - well recognized names.
Clonlara School - offers "Compuhigh", an online secondary program towards a High School Diploma.
Sagemont Virtual School - also offers a college prep. curriculum for high school athletes.
Housing
If interested, the Academy can arrange for junior players to be housed in apartments together with Coaches / Pro Staff from Hardscrabble Club. The apartments are furnished and just a couple of miles from the club so transportation is hassle-free.
Meals can be had at the Club’s café.
During the summer weeks, housing is at the Blair Academy’s dormitories and all meals are included.
